Along with an array of seating developed and fabricated by SPARK, an integral feature of this precinct is a large, curved seating unit, the design of which is based on structures once built by the Wadawurrung people.
Called ‘yarning circles’, the structures were places to gather for ceremonial business, the passing on of traditional stories, and for celebrations.
The Wadawurrung name for the area is Gayoopanyoon Goopma, which means ’place to gather’, and with much of the site dedicated to public space, it is open and welcoming, and echos deep cultural traditions.
