For the landmark $300 million Eighty Eight O’Connell redevelopment, bespoke GRC landscape elements were developed to integrate planting, seating and architectural detailing throughout the precinct. Spark Furniture worked with the project team to create a value-managed custom solution featuring raised GRC planters with integrated Spotted Gum timber seating and subtle linear LED lighting.
The sculptural planter modules were designed to define landscaped areas while providing comfortable places for residents, visitors and the wider community to sit and gather. The softened geometry of the GRC finish and natural timber detailing complement the architectural palette of the development.
The custom elements were manufactured locally in South Australia, in a collaborative effort between Spark Furniture & Toppco, the combination of durable GRC and hardwood was selected to withstand the demands of a high-traffic mixed-use environment. The same design language extends from the ground-level public realm through to the elevated SkyPark, helping create a cohesive landscape experience across the precinct.
