Every year, SPARK looks forward to the state and national award nights, held by the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects in celebration of outstanding landscape design in a variety of categories.

In 2019, Outerspace Studios were the winners of the South Australia Landscape Architecture Award for Urban Design, in recognition of their striking design of the new streetscape along Adelaide’s King William Road.

A key element of the design was bespoke seating designed by JamFactory Adelaide’s Stephen Anthony, former Head of Furniture, and Andrew Carvolth, former Studio Production Manager.

The elegant seat and chair frames were sand-cast in aluminium, powder coated in a charcoal colour, and clad in oiled spotted gum timber slats. Spark sister company, Rowlands Metalworks, fabricated the custom solid brass fasteners which provide an elegant detail against the deep, rich tones of the oiled spotted gum.
