Running from the square to the pier, in the South Australian town of Henley Beach, is the extensive timber-clad Ripple lounge, designed by T.C.L. and manufactured by SPARK for the major upgrade to the town square.
With the objective of creating a furniture structure, that would be both an engaging focal point of the town, and a physical connection between the pier and the square, SPARK industrial designers devised an intricate, 316 stainless steel structure that would support the 4 1/2 kilometres of timber battens that make up the undulating seating. Highly accurate and detailed drawings were essential to ensure consistency of this very long seating unit, which runs from the edge of the pier all the way to the square.
